Some
time ago my 1990 Miata died the short-nose crankshaft death!
Fortunately, Bobby Bowser of Accutech Auto was still in business,
replaced it and my car has been going strong since! (I now have
over 216,000 miles on the odometer.)
I saved the old crank
and finally figured out a neat way to use it! I made a table
lamp. Two photo's posted. The back of the lamp shows how I routed the
wiring (classic cloth covered twisted 18 gauge lamp cord). I drilled
out four oil passageways to ¼", inserted wooden dowel pins and then
used small eye screws as wire guides. I am currently using an old plain
lamp shade, but plan to replace that! (After completing negotiations
with my better half, lol. If any of you are artistic and would
like to discuss painting my lampshade, please give me a call! And
of course, if anyone has an old Miata crankshaft they want to get rid
of .... You know who to call!)
To date the total cost less than $20.
